The Cake Slice Bakers (TCSB)

This is the last month we are baking

(and here is my cake)

from our current book

Southern Living, The Southern Cake Book
and in November 2015,
we, The Cake Slice bakers will be
baking from our new book!
***
AND as Anabel said at her blog:
"Next month we will start baking from a new book. I look forward to baking and making new friendships  with the new members that have jouned our group, and will miss those who have chosen to leave this season. Anne from "From my Sweet Heart" joined our group in 2012, Kim from "The Ninja Baker" and Sandra from "Sweet Sensations" both joined in 2013, they are leaving the group this season. Their bakes were always picture perfect, and a delight to read. I will miss them terribly, and hope that they return again to bake with us in the near future.
For those of you interested in joining the Cake Slice, a group of dedicated bakers, please contact Laura, our group administrator, with enquiries."

This cake Lemon Bar Cheesecake has three parts to it,
the lemon curd, the pastry and then the cheesecake filling,
four actually... including the candied lemon slices/peel curls

and since I used my 6" Wilton spring form pan,
I quartered the recipe which worked out
just nice and exact!
no leftover pastry and no leftover filling
but hey! I made the full recipe for the lemon curd
so I have plenty in the fridge! yumms!

and since I made a quarter of the recipe
I made candied lemon peel curls
instead of candied lemon slices
as the lemon slices will be too big for the cake

I tried twice to roll out the pastry (after two nights in the fridge)
but to no avail, hence I dump the whole ball into the lined pan
and pressed the pastry over the base and up the sides of the pan
WORKED just fine
and SLICE beautifully
OMG it is good!

Dear Emily, what a picture perfect deliciousness of a cake! I would enjoy a big slice with my cup of coffee and I would not mind some extra homemade lemon curd in the fridge either!
Beautifully done!

Another beautiful cheesecake for October. Love the lemon flavor being carried over to the candied peel and curd. Would love a piece of this since lemon is my favorite flavor after chocolate. Yum!

Emily! I wanted to try this recipe earlier this year, but my husband can't stand Lemon desserts! I think I'm going to try to make this, despite the fact! It really looks wonderful! The curd looks delicious! Great way to end the season! Thank you for quoting me, thats very kind of you. Blessings my friend!
