CCC ~ August 2015 offerings

Much thanks and appreciation to
for organizing this cook-along-with-Hugh!

I planned to make seven dishes but because
I had been busy with the newest member to my family
(Left: Grand daughter #2 with her sister!)
***
I only managed these
1.  From the chapter of Raw Assemblies:
Tomatoes with Thai dressing (page 121)
great as a side to bbq chicken wings!
***
2. From the chapter of Bready Things:
Leek and cheese toastie (page 202)
***
3.  From the chapter of Comfort Food & Feasts:
Aubergine and green bean curry (page 29)

 ***
4. From the chapter of Hefty Soups:
Chickpea, chard and porcini soup (page 149)
(using brown button mushrooms and
greens from my container garden)
 ***
want the recipes?  go buy a copy of it!

Hi Emily, Congratulations! your newest addition is beautiful. I made the eggplant curry and the soup and enjoyed both of them very much. I think the eggplant is my all-time favorite.

Hi Emily, Congratulations on your second bundle of joy, so very beautiful! The photo reminds me of my two daughters as babies! Very best wishes to the family and good health and happiness to all. Your dishes look nice and your soup sounds good using the fresh mushrooms as Cheri did in her preparation. Porcini mushrooms are winter fare around here with their strong depth of flavor that I adore in more heartier dishes. I'd wanted to prepare the leek and cheese toastie but ran out of time, though I hope to prepare this bruschetta shortly with leeks from my garden. Nice wrap up. Have fun with the babes!

Emily - what a great reason to miss that last recipe!! How adorable!!

Your dishes look wonderful. A couple that I was planning to make, and others I didn't - though I did make the Tomatoes with Thai (ish) dressing. Happy that you were able to get some many delicious recipes made. Enjoy those sweet girls!!

Your three dishes look wonderful - wasn´t the Aubergine and Green Bean Curry delightful?! Such a great idea to pair the Thai-style tomatoes with bbq chicken wings! And your soup looks like pure comfort in a bowl!
Congratulations again and all the very best to all of you!
And thank you for being part of The Cottage Cooking Club!
Always appreciate all your pictures and comments!

Emily, congratulations! Both your granddaughters are adorable!
All of the dishes look great--beautiful colors so evocative of summer. I also made the eggplant curry, but something went wrong and it was bland for our tastes. hmmm... Anyway, congrats again on the new addition to your family!

Okay, Emily, we'll give you a Pass for making only four of the seven recipes you wished to cook. Another granddaughter is a perfect excuse. Heck, it's a celebration. I have two granddaughters, as you know, and they are the joys of my Life. Have fun with these girls. Since it was cool in the mountains, I made the soup also. Thought it was delicious. And the leek toasties. I didn't get to them but all the ingredients are in the fridge. Tomorrow. Again, congratulations to you and your husband. (and, Mom and Dad).

Congratulations Emily! They're both so beautiful!

Your dishes look wonderful as well. I didn't make the eggplant curry but it's received some positive reviews so may give it a try. I really enjoyed the soup and I love that you made it with fresh mushrooms, a great idea when they're so plentiful.

Enjoy your granddaughters and see you next month.

Cute granddaughters! I can't wait to make the cheese and leek toasties, and the soup looks good - I had chosen this recipe as well, but it turned out to be just too hot to cook and eat soup. Enjoy that beautiful bundle of joy!

Congratulations! The girls look so cute in that photo. :)

You managed quite a few recipes, even when you were so busy with family.
