Okay semi-success
spent a few hours
friday night
seasoning one of two
Roma waffle pans I have
(one with long handles for camping
and one short handled piece
which apparently had gone missing)
but using the long handle piece...
saved myself from being
burnt!
This evening made the batter
a couple hours before dinner
and one hour before dinner
started making waffles
dreaming of success somewhat
but then the first waffle
STUCK BIG TIME
hence instead of serving DH waffles
it was smoked salmon pancakes!
after dinner
in between watching
the finals of THOMAS CUP (badminton) being
played out in India between Malaysia and Japan....
(currently 2/2)
dug out the batter and reseason the pan
and slowly started the waffle making episode
and
here we are:
smoked salmon waffles!
**
and
a make up dish
Chicken Basquaise over pasta
dinner for two
using two chicken thighs
and there are two parts to this dish
firstly: the piparade ie the veggies
and then the chicken which needed to be pan fried
and mix the two together
you
get
this:
hubby approved...
below: an asparagus version of leek vinaigrette with mimosa
below: greens harvested from my balcony garden

Oooh, I was shocked when both my husband and I loved the piperade recipe. He usually hates bell peppers and I'm not such a big fan of the cooked variety myself. But we both loved that one, I need to make it again. And asparagus in place of the leeks sounds like a great idea. Enjoy your weekend!
I like the idea of asparagus vinaigrette with mimosa. I am sure my husband will like it better than the leek version.
I love that you grow vegetables on your balcony. I wish I had a green thumb. The only thing I grow are blackberries, it is a weed that requires no maintenance.
Your two catch up dishes look delish!
Such a delicious catch up day!!! And a nice reminder of our past recipes!
Nice catchup. So many good recipes all at once!
Great catchup…this is one I haven't made yet! It looks delicious!
Three great dishes! I need to make the piperade again soon. That one is always a huge hit.
So many! I forgot about that chicken! I guess that piperade is getting another treatment this week too. I was wondering if someone would do pancakes!
What fun! I thought the waffles were surprisingly good - and well done on the make-ups. I usually use asparagus for the mimosa, always a good choice. All of your dishes look great!
Wow, that's quite the round up!
Way to combine the chicken with the piperade and knocking out two at onece.
I admire your perseverance. Your waffles turned out beautifully in the end!
