FFwD ~ hélène’s all-white salad

This Friday's recipe
is healthy and fifty shades of white!
(ok - pretend its all white)
or maybe the color of the placemat and the chopsticks
makes you think its another color... ;) 
I do agree that the raw white mushroom tasted meaty
(I used Tuscan White Button mushroom)
I hesitate adding raw mushrooms so I steamed
some cauliflower florets but in the end 
I added the chopped mushrooms too
(I wanted to add a splash or two of worcestershire sauce to the dressing
 which I think would have made it better but I refrained from it)
I did use Sarawak pepper the recipe called for! 
but instead of sesame seeds (cos I had none!)
I used melon seeds

wanted to make waffles but could not locate
my cast iron waffle pan (due to spring cleaning for the Lunar Year)
and cannot remember which box it was packed away in
but extremely happy using this
to make crepes from next week's recipe
DH is having three crepes spread with multi-grain mustard
and slices of smoked duck breast and the salad for his lunch today

That salad looks wonderful along side the crepes. I forgot all about
the seeds, but we loved the salad anyway. Have a great weekend.

Clearly I didn't read the recipe properly I don't remember sesame seeds at all (but that would be a great addition!)

I think the dressing needed a little something, too, but really enjoyed the salad all the same. I think those duck-filled crepes sound even more delicious than next week's recipe.

Emily, cannot say that I have ever heard of using melon seeds in cooking before - but I am quite intrigued. Your salad looks fabulous - I like the presentation with the chopsticks!

Yay!! Cauliflower is white great substitution! I love raw mushrooms, yes they can taste meaty but if you salt them just a little bit they start to release liquids and become softer and not so spongy! I am so jealous of this cast iron pan! It has been on my wishlist for such a long time!!!

Love the melon seeds. Well done. And I am so impressed already with your crepes ! I really need to practice before next week's crepe assignment. Your hubby must have loved the duck crepe combo :) Wish we enjoyed the salad more but I am sure we will love next week's crepes :)

I think the Worcestershire might have helped too! I thought this was a little boring as it was. The crepes look great! I can't wait to do those!
