FFwD ~ Caramel Almond Custard Tart(lets)

Cooking and Baking from:
on
Caramel-Almond Custard Tart (p457)
could not locate my brand new 6" tart pan with removable base,
decided to go the mini way hence became tartlets
Dorie says 'make sure the centers puff up'
I do believe that shorter bake time for the blind bake of pastry is best for
my tartlets but then again I used dark brown sugar for the pastry

better - nice and warm from the oven then the next morning

Playing catching up (FFwD made this way back in July/2011)
my version of Dorie's Salmon and Tomatoes en Papillote
sans the lemon [as DH was recently advised against any citrus for the long haul :( ]
and I did seared the halved cherry/grape tomatoes
used fresh ginger instead (non-citrus right?)
L: part of DH's lunch and R: my teatime snack with buns

  1. LOL, well you are going to be the one that meticulously makes the mini desserts huh? :) My little ones would gobble up all of your little tarts before you knew they were missing! How cute! I'm glad that the papillote recipe treated you well! ;) Lovely Friday to you!

    1. Yup, designated smalls maker! Easier, no need to slice or cut - individual gifts way cuter than slices!

  2. Your minis are so cute - wish I would have done them. Also wish I would have baked the pastry before I filled it. Sigh!

  6. So cute - and I love that you used brown sugar in the crust - that must have intensified the caramel flavor.

  8. Those micro-tarts are just adorable, Emily! And, the salmon looks good. I forgot about that one, but now I remember I enjoyed it. It's nice to see new members doing catch ups to remind us of earlier recipes.

  10. I have to laugh because I was whining about having to get my crust rolled into a rectangle shape- you put me to shame for sure. Of course the fact that I did not have my Cuisinart on hand did not help the mood :) Great job in playing catch up too - that salmon looks divine and ginger sounds like a fun substitute !

  11. I am loving the oval shaped pans.. so pretty!

That salmon is one of my regular rotation meals. I love fish with ginger, so I'll keep that in mind when I make it next week.

  14. Your tartlets are lovely. I used to have the patience for doing that but not these days. Everyone always loves small treats. The salmon en papillote was one of my favorites! Nice job.

  16. Your minis are cuter than my minis. What beautiful and delicious-looking tarts - nice job. And, going back to 2011 is very impressive. I also liked the salmon en papillote.
