Today its ~ Salade Niçoise (“nee-swaz”)
Above picture was missing the capers
anyone notice the last missing ingredient?
plated as follows:
crunchy salad greens
(previously tossed with dressing)
blanched french beans
boiled new potatoes
red cherry tomatoes
spring onion, snipped
hard boiled eggs
black olives, pitted
capers
anchovies
there should have been tuna flakes (but I forgot!)
(the can is still sitting on top of my mini fridge)
drizzled with dressing:
red wine vinegar
olive oil
salt n pepper
wholegrain mustard
So, question is ~ READ HERE: Is Salade Nicoise still one without the tuna?
ok - now this is complete!
Salade Niçoise dinner
made perfect with soft french baguette!
Well, at least you made the salad, which looks great! I skipped this week's assignment.
ReplyDeleteI will have the tuna with the salad for dinner tonight!! ;)
Deleteps: thanks for dropping by!
DeleteSee it looks so much prettier without the tuna. But that's just me! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed both versions! Love the anchovies!
DeleteYes, it does look prettier without the fish!
DeleteYour salad is very pretty with or without tuna. Thanks for the link dealing with what it takes to make a salad Nicoise. Actually, I left off the olives (forgot them) so I wondered if mine was nicoise:)
ReplyDeleteThe link provided good reading yes? Forgotten ingredients in salads - quite forgiving - but not for baking - from my experience!
DeleteAnd that's why I don't bake as much! :-)
DeleteLovely take on this week's recipe.
Adriana!
DeleteWe should not be put off baking because of that; need to prepare all the ingredients before starting thats all.
Thanks for dropping by!
It's all in the spirit of the recipe, so I think it's still Nicoise without the tuna. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteYes, I will settle for that!
Deletehaha, Emily! We did the same thing! I forgot to put the tuna and olives on until halfway through dinner! :) Something about that many elements to ensure make it to the plate got to me I guess... all I know is that I would have gotten voted off Top Chef - especially for not plating the protein!
ReplyDeleteand I was making sure that I did not forget the tuna - that I placed the can in a prominent place in the kitchen - and forget I did!
DeleteGreat looking salad!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLooks good with or without tuna. We loved this one. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIts a great salad!
DeleteI think we all have ingredient memory lapse at times...
ReplyDeleteIt looks great with or without the tuna!
Haha! Thanks!
DeleteHi Emily and welcome to French Fridays! I think your salad looks wonderful with or without the tuna…that’s the good thing about salads you can be quite imaginative with the ingredients. I forgot the capers and I bought them just for this salad. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy!
DeleteThanks for the welcome to FFwD! Have a great week ahead!
So glad you've joined us! Your salad looks great with and without the tuna :)

ReplyDeleteTwi very lovely presentations of this classic French salad - beautifully arranged and worth many repeats, I am sure!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Monday!
Thanks Andrea!
DeleteThe ingredients are quite readily available with exception of the anchovies.
Fun challenge! I couldn't guess what it was you were missing, and it was the main ingredient :-) Glad you enjoyed this one.
