TCS Bakers ~ Aug 2014 ~ Hungarian Poppy Seed Kugelhopf

This is my choice out of the four recipes
up for the baking
and whenever there is a poppy seed recipe
I will bake it!
and this has orange in it and
it so reminds me of the first
poppy seed orange cake
I tasted way back when we lived
in Melaka (aka Malacca) in the 1990s
apologies for the quality of the pictures
DH lost my camera which I loan him
for his China trip (and with my biggest memory card too!)
and I even made a simple chocolate glaze,
with great success!
Now I regret making half the recipe!
this is our 10th recipe from
pages 174-175 of
Carole Walter's
Great Cakes, over 250 recipes to Bake, Share and Enjoy!

  2. I'm not a huge poppy seed fan, Emily. But your cake may change my mind...I may just have to give the recipe a go!

  3. Once many years ago I had a lemon poppy seed cake and declared that poppy seeds weren't for me. After looking at yours I may have to rethink that. Very pretty!

  4. Yum! I toyed with this one.. but I LOVE berries. I think I may give this a go though Emily. I am partial to a good poppy seed! Hazel x

  5. They look delicious Emily, I thought about doing that one but the marble cake won in the end :)

  6. Beautiful presentation, as always! Tell your husband that he owes you a camera!

  7. It never fails when we make a half recipe we end up wanting more!

  8. Your little bundts are so darned cute! I bet the added chocolate made these great desserts.

  9. Hi Emily, I am not a fan of poppyseeds but they do look so pretty in the cake!
