Simple chickpea hummus with tahini,
Hummus: 1 can chickpea and liquid, tahini, garlic, salt and lemon juice
Topping: whole chickpea, toasted pumpkin seeds with egg white, olive oil and a dusting of sumac
Paired with: store-bought grissini, mini sweet peppers, carrots, gem lettuce and scotch eggs! late dinner for one, me! Balance of hummus in the fridge! Forgot to bring home the camera - hence funny pics via handphone :(

After catching the movie: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, twice - both times from mid point - on the cable, late at night, when the house is quiet (cos the spouse is in bed)... darn - need to get the book - and - a trilogy! Since I know the story for part 1 (or so I thought) - started reading book 2 and 3... and went back to read book 1 (which I did say that I will not) great that I did! I was hoping that there will be a book 4 and so went chatting with Mr Google and found the sad story about the author Stieg Larsson.
Now weighting up what to read next: Water Ghosts or Eating Up Italy, voyages on a Vespa! Just cannot decide but in the meantime, found a sexy guy to keep me company!
This is my second cookbook by Gino D'acampo - so good! I cooked from my first book of his titled: Gino's Italian escapes A Taste of the Sun ~ I liked!

First, your dinner for one looks fabulous, Emily! I'm totally jealous. Second, I loved those girl with the dragon tattoo books and haven't read them in years. Indeed, I only watched the Swedish movies and not the US ones because I'd heard the former was truer to the book. Finally, I'll have to check out that Italian food cookbook!
ReplyDeleteBook 2 and 3 - I have picture in mind that certain parts were written touch in cheek! I do love Lisberg's character!
DeleteI swear that Gino is a vampire - Fantastico! was his first book and he looks better and better with each subsequent cookbook cover!
Everything looks so good on that plate. I loved the hummus, very tasty and certainly better than store bought.
ReplyDeleteYes, Ro - it is better than store bought!
DeleteYou and Katie are braver than I am. I read Larsson's first book of the three and saw the movie. Both scared me! So I haven't read more. Yes, his Life, may he rest in peace, was a soap opera in itself. That is one good and healthy meal. Good for you. My advice, always stick with the sexy guy. PS - You and I both own Clark's new cookbook. Katie owns it also. I think it is good. And, you?
ReplyDeleteNo, I do not have Melissa Clark's book, yet! I got my first Diana Henry though.
DeleteI would say that Elizabeth George's works are darker than Larsson's trilogy!
I'm with Katie on the Larsson books and movies - loved the books and Swedish films, but skipped the American version. It is too bad what happened to him. There's at least one sequel from another author, but I don't think I'm going to read it. And I own and love Ready For Dessert - it's a nice round up of (mostly) recipes from his earlier cookbooks.
ReplyDeleteYour meals sound fantastic - great way to build some deliciousness around the hummus.
Me too (after learning about S.Larsson and his writing), will skip the fourth book!
DeleteAnd I made Dorie's hummus pancakes, hubby devoured them!
Love your spread for dinner or lunch or anytime anywhere with the hummus and, of course, the scotch eggs. Made the scotch eggs recently. They are real treats.
ReplyDeleteThe scotch eggs were good, weren't they?
