FFwD ~ Green-as-Spring Veal Stew (Lamb)

This week's recipe from FFwD
looks abit like these:
normally a vegetarian dish
of which I had only had it ONCE
and not again, unless if its a
non-vegetarian version - I might give it another go!

You may serve your
Green-as-Spring Veal Stew
(lamb for me as it was suggested
by some Doristas for those of us
who cannot find veal)
over rice or noodles or
do like I did - mashed potatoes
mine had butter, fresh thyme
and seasoned with salt and pepper
 my version:
lamb instead of veal
chopped celery, carrots, onions, garlic and thyme,
chicken stock
salt and pepper
for the base broth
herbs used:
arugula, spinach,
french tarragon (not too much),
sweet basil (instead of parsley)
and dill
lastly lemon juice (to taste)
very important!
well?
did it taste as gross as it looks?
I only made a single portion
and I finished all of it...
initially I thought it was pretty good
and wish there was more
but by the time I finish whatever
there was on my plate...
it was enough!

  3. Did you put any cream in your sauce? It looks like the non-cream version I made. Lamb sounds like a great substitute. Probably more attractive than boiled veal.

  4. We enjoyed it and the husband is hoping I will make the sauce again to serve on the side of some roasted lamb.

  5. Your sauce is VERY GREEN! Glad to know this worked well with lamb instead.

  6. I'm making mine right now - a little late. But I've heard that it's great, so that's nice. Beautiful green sauce. I'm glad you enjoyed.

  8. I made a green chicken stew but lamb sounds like a nice substitute.
Your sauce looks thick and green. I did not reduce my sauce.. but liked it anyway.

  9. I substituted peas for the spinach and really enjoyed it…although green gravy just doesn’t look appealing!

  12. I think almost anything would taste good over mashed potatoes. It sounds like you were smart to only make one serving!
