Aspiring Bakers #24 ~ Jelly/Pudding ~ Sago Pudding

I used my late grandad's recipe for this sago pudding with gula melaka and santan
Yumms!
My late Grandad said:
bring a large pot of water to rapid boil
pour in your sago seeds
when they no longer has the white spot in the middle (around 8-10mins)
pour the mixture into a strainer
when the mixture is half way done,
stir in a tablespoon of thick salted coconut milk
mix well so that the sago seeds will not stick together
transfer to just-rinsed-with-cold-water mould
when cool enough, refridgerate till serving time
meanwhile:
heated up some water with the gula melaka blocks gently
stirring frequently to ensure no sticking to bottom of pot
and burning of the sugar mixture
turn off heat when the mixture is thick syrup state
next:
heat up 1 to 2 cups freshly squeezed coconut milk (or packaged coconut milk)
with a 1/2 to 1 tspn salt
turn off heat when bubbles appear and boil for a couple of mins

Serving:
scoop out the chilled sago from the mould into serving dishes
pour the melted palm sugar (gula melaka) on one side
and the coconut milk on the other
YUMMS!
