Below: mmmph! now what was I to do with the melted butter again??!!
Well, looks like no harm done cos the genoise sponge kept on rising!
For the recipe and more step-by-step pictures go visit my fellow TCS baker Anabel at Oven Delights
Below: as you can see the sponge layers needed more coffee syrup!
but otherwise they are super soft and tasted okay even if I had forgotten the melted butter bit.... ;)
A whole load of washing up to do for this cake!
Above: 1st slice after breakkie sharing with DH who said "just a mouthful" he ended up eating half the portion!

Wait, so you forgot to add the butter to the batter? Haha, I'm sorry, but that's kind of funny :P I'm glad your cake worked out well though!
Hi Becca,
I found forgotten ingredients a couple of times while cleaning up or immediately putting the pan in the oven.... hahahaha! blame it on old age!
That is just stunning and it looks delish! I know, the butter really did have to sit there forever, didn't it?

Yours is simply beautiful. I added the butter and it almost sank to the bottom of each pan, making my cakes rubbery....maybe your mistake was a blessing!
Doesn't look like it suffered from lack of butter! Looks fabulous, well done.
Your cake looks delicious, yum!
